New book chapter in Open Access
The new chapter ‘Community-based responses to exclusionary processes of neighbourhood change in Parkdale, Toronto’ is now Open Access. Published in the book edited by Susan Moore, Nicola Livingstone, Susannah Bunce and Alan Walks, ‘Critical Dialogues of Urban Governance, Development and Activism: London and Toronto’, publiched by UCL Press.
In the Chapter, the strong neighborhood efficacy of Parkdale is analyzed in its relation with rules and regulations that define the development-planning context in Toronto as well as broader policies aimed at democratically controlling neighborhood change. I consider development in Parkdale as a catalyst for activism and policy changes that lead to a fundamental rethinking of planning regime.
